The Motiv8 Academy gives teenagers from all sporting backgrounds the tools required to assist them in their development in both sport and in life. In an atmosphere of fun, positivity and encouragement young athletes will experience a 3 day programme of structured sessions, not sport specific but designed to develop vital skills and attributes essential for success in sport and life.

The Motiv8 Academy offers comprehensive personal development, fostering long term positive change in young sports people across multiple disciplines. Whether the young sports person is striving for world class preparation as an athlete or a well rounded leadership experience the Motiv8 programme provides the critical tools to help achieve those goals.

With the focus on character development, athletic development and fun as the keys to unlocking the young athlete's potential, the Motiv8 Academy revolutionises the sports camp experience for teenagers.

The Motiv8 Academy coaches recognise that natural talent often fails to fulfil its potential due to the distractions and negative influences associated with modern living. We therefore seek to instil a carefully selected set of skills, values, strategies and lifestyle choices which will assist the development of individual talent.

Motiv8 Academy Sports Stars
Donncha O’Callaghan is a Motiv8 Ambassador and he really enjoyed his involvement in last year’s Academy and is also going to play an integral part to the Academy 2010. Other high profile sports stars such as David Gillick, Kieran McGeeney and Bernard Jackmann will be involved in the Academy and will be imparting to the participants what they believe to be the key ingredients for success in sport and life.

The Motiv8 Academy teaches young sports people:
  1. High performance thought and athletic patterns
  2. Discipline, commitment, sacrifice, responsibility, goal setting and goal achieving
  3. Imagination and forethought to visualize goals
  4. Character development through sport
Each sports person participating in the Motiv8 Academy will develop a personalised success plan of how they will achieve their potential.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

Motiv8 encourages young people from all sporting backgrounds to attend our Academy. We are confident that the skills and competencies gained will progress young athletes in their lives and chosen sports.

SAMPLE SCHEDULE

Motiv8 Performance Excellence Academy days will be split into two halves with lectures on the various disciplines in the mornings followed by sports specific training and coaching in the afternoon.

Enda McNulty – Mental Performance
Enda is a leading Sports Psychologist and performance coach with a proven track record.

Deirdre Keane – Business and Leadership Coach
Deirdre has worked as a Project Manager in the Human Resource Development industry, Business Consultant within a range of industries, Senior Manager for Business Development and Communications within the pharmaceutical industry and as a Campaign Manager within the political arena.

Daragh Graham - Speed
Daragh is an Irish international 100m and 200m sprinter.

Eoghan McDermott - Communication
Eoghan is the Head of Communications and Career Advice in the Communications Clinic.

Barry Murray – Nutrition and Hydration
Barry is a Sports Nutritionist having completed an MSc in Sports and Exercise Nutrition at Loughborough University.

Kevin Clancy – Performance Excellence
Kevin is a psychologist with a very comprehensive portfolio of experience in the area of mental conditioning including an internship with IMG at the Evert Tennis Academy, Florida.

Aoife Crilly – Functional Training
Aoife is an accomplished strength and conditioning coach and Pilates instructor.

Barry Solan - Strength and Conditioning
Barry is a Strength & Conditioning Coach who has worked with Junior, College, Amateur & Professional Athletes through a wide range of sports in Ireland, England and at Athletes’ Performance, Arizona in the U.S

Maeve Barry - Sports Psychologist
Maeve has a comprehensive and well rounded academic background in the area of sporting performance holding an honours degree in Human Physiology and Sports Rehabilitation together with a Masters Degree in Sports Psychology.

Noel Murphy - Strength and Conditioning
An experienced Club & National Team coach, Noel enjoys being part of the success story in Irish sports. Appointed Strength & Conditioning coach for Swim Ireland’s new High Performance Center, Noel is further developing our 2012 athletes.

Justin McNulty – Academy Director
Justin is an experienced Project Manager and is currently Armagh Senior Team Coach.




WHAT TO BRING

The Academy will be located in the Sports Centre and various pitches, lecture rooms and on the athletic track at UCD. All participants should come along dressed in track suits or shorts and trainers and also bring along moulded football boots, sunscreen, rain proof gear and a packed lunch with lots of water.

ACADEMY COST

The 2010 Motiv8 Academy is a three day programme
running from 9am to 3pm daily.
